Have I got a product for you! Betty Crocker limited edition Gingerbread Cookie Mix has just become my new best friend. I bake gingerbread houses year-round for every holiday and I've always made the dough from scratch. Well, not anymore! At least not during Christmas (the limited edition mix is available only during the Christmas holidays). But, if I stock up, I should be able to lay in a supply to carry me through.

For house building, I give this Betty Crocker mix 5 stars, and 4 stars for flavor. Read this full review of Betty Crocker's Gingerbread Cookie Mix. It takes two of these mixes to make a house using this gingerbread house pattern. You'll have some leftover dough to make cookies with, if you like.

So, at about $2.29 per mix, you're talking a little more than $4.50 to make the house, excluding the cost of icing and decorations. For sheer convenience -- no measuring, no buying spices you'll never use again -- it's way worth it!
In my book, you've just run out of excuses for not building a gingerbread house from scratch.
