Croatian Cheese Lasagne Rollups a Great Lenten Dish

Croatians along the Dalmatian Coast eat many of the same foods as Italians do -- risottos and pastas like lasagne although it is spelled lazanje. The proximity of Italy has a profound effect on the cuisine.

This recipe for Croatian Lazanje Rollups is my version of a cheese lasagne. I make it with dry curd or farmer's cheese and Parmesan, and lots of garlic and fresh herbs. Stand the rolls on end and bake them in meatless homemade or store-bought pasta sauce. It's a perfect vegetarian or Lenten dish.
