Whether your dad is a foodie or a meat-and-potatoes kind of a guy, there's a recipe for everyone on this Father's Day menu.
1. Breakfast Skillet Recipe
If you want to start things off with breakfast in bed, this skillet dish is sure to please.
2. Leek and Potato Tart Recipe
For lunch, how about a leek and potato tart? For the foodie dad, accompany this with a crisp green salad and he'll be in heaven. For the meat-and-potatoes guy, serve this as a side dish with an Eastern European hamburger (see below).
3. Hamburgers Any Way He Likes Them
These ground meat recipes can be formed into patties, sausages, meatballs and fried, broiled, grilled indoors or outdoors, or baked in the oven.
4. Bulgarian Salad Recipe - Shopska Salata
This Bulgarian shopska salata is a refereshing palate cleanser before the main course at any meal year-round.
5. Stuffed Meatloaf with Mashed Potatoes Recipe
For the meat-and-potatoes guy, you can't go wrong with mushroom-stuffed meatloaf, mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy for dnner. For the foodie, the weay to his heart is Filet Mignon with Sundried Tomato Butter (see below). I'm sure either type of dad would appreciate a grilled dry-aged porterhouse pork chop, prepared simply with salt and pepper and a swab of oil or Roast Rack of Pork (also see below). Accompany these main-course offerings with cauliflower, green beans or asparagus fixed a la Polonaise.
6. Filet Mignon with Sundried Tomato Butter Recipe
Filet mignon is French for "dainty filet" and is a common cut of beef tenderloin. I like to create the grill marks on an indoor grill and then bake it until done. The sundried tomato butter recipe will yield leftovers to be used on bread or pasta. Try serving this with Creamed Brussels Sprouts.
7. Roast Rack of Pork Recipe
Rack of pork is a showy cut of meat, especially if you (or your butcher) french the bones. Racks of pork only take about 18 minutes per pound, so a three-pound rack, enough for four servings, will take under an hour to cook.
8. Stuffed Pork Chops Recipe
Eastern Europeans love pork, but if the rack of pork recipe (above) is a little pricey to prepare, any cut of pork chop will work in this recipe for stuffed pork chops. Pair it with Sauerkraut and Apples and he'll really be king for the day.
9. Cheesecake Recipe
I've never met a man who didn't like cheesecake. This recipe for Polish cheesecake or sernik is delightful on its own, or you can gussy it up with fresh fruit and whipped cream. If dad likes something more decadent, raspberry roulade (below) should fill the bill.
10. Raspberry Cream Roulade Recipe
This Hungarian rolled spongecake with raspberries and whipped cream -- malna piskotatekercs -- is pretty and this sponge cake recipe makes it moist and easy to assemble. But, if a meal isn't a meal without something chocolate, consider flourless chocolate cake (below).
11. Flourless Chocolate Cake Recipe
This cake contains no flour, so it's perfect for the wheat-allergy dad. This recipe produces a fudgy interior that is great on its own or gussied up with a sprinkle of confectioners's sugar, fresh berries and a dollop of whipped cream.
