• 1 cup milk, scalded
• 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine
• 1 cup sugar (or less, to taste)
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 2 packages active dry yeast
• 1/4 cup warm water
• 2 eggs + 1 egg, at room temperature, beaten
• 5 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 cup golden raisins

• Combine scalded milk with next three ingredients.
• Place ingredients in a stand mixer or large bowl.
• Place dough in greased bowl.
• Punch dough down and place on work surface.
• Divide dough.
• Roll each piece into a long rope.
• Begin braiding.
• Let braided bread rise until double.
• Enjoy this slightly sweet bread.
