Every year since 1942, Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry has displayed Christmas trees from around the world, decorated by volunteers from the city's ethnic communities. That first year, the exhibit consisted of one tree decorated by volunteers from 12 countries as a salute to American allies during World War II. Now, 67 years later, the museum is filled with more than 50 trees that reflect holiday traditions from around the world. Additionally, Holidays of Light, in its 13th year, is a display that celebrates the traditions of Chinese New Year, Diwali, Kwanzaa, Ramadan, Hanukkah, Visakha Puja Day and St. Lucia Day. This gallery is a collection of Eastern European Christmas tree images.
