The Bottom Line

For me, the Hoover FloorMate SpinScrub Hard Floor Cleaner is a dream come true. I have high-gloss ceramic tile throughout much of my house. It can be a major task to clean them -- pull out the vacuum cleaner to suck up the dirt, then pull out a mop and bucket to wash the floors, and then wait and wait for them to dry, or else risk a serious slip-and-fall accident. Not anymore! The FloorMate does all three tasks in one fell swoop. And does them very well! I'm anxious to see what the life expectancy of this device will be. For now, I'm happy!

Pros

  • It's three devices in one -- a vacuum, a washer, and a dryer -- at the flip of a switch.
  • It holds a lot of waste water so constant emptying isn't necessary.
  • It really works! Even on sticky, syrupy, set-on stains.
  • The vacuum has the power of a conventional vacuum.
  • It's a godsend for people who can't wring out a mop.

Cons

  • It can get a little tiring for arthritic fingers to press the cleaning solution trigger.
  • The machine can become a little heavy to push after doing a large area.
  • The cleaning solution can be a little pricey.
  • It's a little unwieldy to pull out for ordinary spills when a mop will do.

Guide Review - Review of Hoover's FloorMate SpinScrub Hard Floor Cleaner

Hoover's FloorMate SpinScrub Hard Floor Cleaner originally debuted in 2006 and was redesigned in 2010 and revealed at the International Home & Housewares Show in Chicago. Here's what's new: The SpinScrub brushes were redesigned to include more bristles for a more thorough clean and to cover more surface area per pass, and the color of the FloorMate was changed from white to blue. This all-in-one machine is designed to alternately vacuum, wash and dry hard floors, including sealed hardwood, ceramic tile, vinyl, laminate and marble, at the flip of a switch. The fold-down handle makes it easy to store. After the market having been saturated for years with floor-cleaning machines that never delivered, a healthy skepticism when approaching this equipment is understandable. How refreshing to discover a product that does what it says it will do.
